{ Hello }

Hello! I'm Kriti, a third-year computer science and mathematics double major from Visakhapatnam, India (a small town of more than a million people... I don't mean "small" sarcastically!). Random facts about me: I'm often described as "tiny" (being 5'0"), I have a Lipton Pureleaf raspberry iced tea drinking problem, and I can tell you the title and cover morph of every Animorphs book.

I love academia at Oberlin! Coming from a school system where I wasn't even given the chance to choose what courses I wanted to take, it has been an incredibly liberating experience. I've taken a philosophy course in which we learned about the fallibility of science by trying to disprove theories about alien abduction. I've studied ancient and contemporary Indian religion, as well as Indian history, viewing my own culture from a Western perspective, which was fascinating. I've had the opportunity to take a sneak peek at the latest (unpublished) research of one of the most famous physicists of the day. And these are all courses from outside my majors. Don't even get me started on how awesome THOSE departments are (unless you have questions).

But of course, the Oberlin experience doesn't stop with the fabulous classes. I've tried to be involved in as many things as humanly possible - I've swing-danced and learned a little aikido, been in a co-op, run an activist organisation, hosted prospective students, and played Obiegame fanatically. I've been involved in student clubs such as Amnesty International, the South Asian Students Association, and the International Student Organisation. I've also worked at a wide variety of places on campus, from being a copy-editor at the Oberlin Review to managing the Multicultural Resource Centre's website to being a technology consultant (i.e. helping people with their broken computers). This semester, I'm taking the taiko drumming and Javanese gamelan excos, and working as a web developer for the Office of Communications. In addition to all of this, I try to attend as many lectures, plays, and concerts as I can (I can never go to enough!).

I love Oberlin, and there's so much more I could talk about but I'm going to stop rambling now. If that disappoints you, feel free to get in touch with me and ask me questions!

Cooking with Grandma

I'm unexpectedly spending my summer at home in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), India, and I'm certainly making the most of it.

Oberlin on the Internet

A large list of Oberlin's presence on the internet, both official and unofficial.

Schedule Drama

Until this semester, I have never shopped for classes. I've always gotten into the classes that I want with pretty much no trouble (taking a lot of mathematics and computer science helps). I didn't understand why everyone always made such a huge deal about Add/Drop (the one and a half week after classes start that you can add or drop classes). Now I do.

All These Things That I Have Done

In this post, I talk about exciting things that have happened to me over the past couple of weeks.

The Story of My Epic Roadtrip: Part Two

Kriti and Adam were last seen in a Days Inn outside of Charlotte, NC. What will they do next? Find out in the next few paragraphs as we catch up with them on Tuesday, October 20.

The Ongoing Story of My Epic Roadtrip: Part One

"Let's go on a roadtrip over fall break! We shouldn't make any plans - just get into the car and go!" "The South! I've never really been there, and I've always wanted to."
